The East Close Hotel, a well known local landmark on the A35 just outside Christchurch in Hinton St.Mary will reopen with a gala event in Spring 2009 after a multi million pound restoration.

The East Close has 16 bedrooms in the main hotel as well as a separate cottage in the grounds. The East Close is a formidable events venue. It has exceptional facilities and resources, including meeting and private function rooms. Whilst thereis no proof that Carroll ever stayed at the East Close, the hotel grounds do feature several elements from the book - the walled garden, a beautiful copper beech tree and a croquet lawn, so it is easy to see how the connections were made.
